| CEN TS 15531 Service Interface for Real time Information (SIRI) | |
The VDV Real Time Interfaces 453 454 are the Standard to use in Germany. They have been a major input to the European standard SIRI. Thus they can be interpreted as to be the subset of SIRI to be used in Germany.
”Service interface for real-time information relating to public transport operations” SIRI, is a XML protocol for exchange of public transport real-time information. The CEN standard was developed with representatives from France, Germany, Scandinavia and UK and is based on Transmodel. SIRI consist of three parts:
CEN TS 15531-1:2006 Public transport - Service interface for real-time information relating to public transport operations
- Part 1: Context and framework
CEN TS 15531-2:2006
- Part 2: Communications infrastructure
CEN TS 15531-3:2006
- Part 3: Functional service interfaces
SIRI was established as European standard in October 2006.
In the meeting of the CEN group (April 2011) it was decided, that works for building an updated version of parts 1-3 should start in November 2011.
The updated version will respect demands which have been dicovered during the use of SIRI in the past years.
Please note that the flat structures in SIRI, which have been introduced in the current SIRI version for backward compatibility with legacy systems are planned to be deleted in the coming version of SIRI:
You should not use the structures with a name ending on „AsGroup“ but the standard-structures. Example: Use structure “MonitoredVehicleJourney“ instead of “MonitoredVehicleJourneyAsGroup". The latter one will be deleted in the future SIRI version.

| Two additional parts have been published in 2010 |

Kizoom uses it to connect about 16 real-time systems to the national traveline system which has timetable for the whole country and real time for some areas.
For one example see http://leicestertravel.info/
The SIRI framework is now also being used in the UK UTMC XML framework for road traffic e.g. see
http://utmc.uk.com/technical/04.php
Atleast 50 sites in the uk using SIRI since some of the main AVL suppliers, e.g. ACIS are using it for all their installations. |
